Description

The Victron Centaur 12V 80A charger is built for large three-bank 12V battery systems that need high charging output and dependable operation in demanding marine environments. Its aluminum epoxy-powder-coated housing, drip shield, stainless steel hardware, and acrylic-coated circuit boards are designed to withstand heat, humidity, salt air, and corrosion.

The Centaur operates across a universal AC input range without manual voltage selection and can also accept a suitable high-voltage DC supply. Three isolated outputs allow independent battery banks to charge simultaneously, and each output can supply the charger’s full rated current as system demand changes. This makes it useful on vessels with substantial starting, house, and auxiliary battery capacity.

Charging is handled through an automatic three-stage process with temperature compensation. The charger begins at bulk rate, starts a timed absorption period once current falls to the designated level, and then transitions to float charging. An internal temperature sensor adjusts charging voltage, while protection logic can reduce output under extreme thermal conditions.
