Description

A carbon monoxide detector belongs in every accommodation space aboard; a small craft or RV with an open layout might get by with just one, but partition off two or more sleeping areas and each one needs its own detector. This Fireboy-Xintex CMD6-M Series CO Alarm, in white with 12/24V DC power, is built to fill that role.

A microprocessor-driven sensor uses a Time Weighted Average (TWA) process, tracking CO concentration alongside temperature and time to calculate Carboxyhemoglobin (COHb) levels, the degree to which carbon monoxide binding to hemoglobin restricts the blood’s oxygen-carrying capacity, expressed as a percentage. Because the body absorbs CO more readily than oxygen, COHb reflects the ratio of absorbed carbon monoxide to oxygen in the bloodstream, and the alarm works out that ratio over time to determine the right response rather than triggering off a single raw reading.

Up to 10 units can be interconnected so every alarm sounds together if any one trips, and the compact housing stays inconspicuous once mounted. It resists most chemicals, solvents, and cleaners, and runs off boat power with a permanent internal lithium-metal backup battery. Sensor life runs approximately 7 years to end-of-life.
