Description

The Blue Sea Systems 8693 e-Series Dual Circuit Plus 2, part number 5511e, is a battery management panel for twin engine boats. It carries one 100A C-Series flat rocker breaker and four 15A push button thermal breakers, handling main DC protection and high ampere load protection in the same unit.

The arrangement keeps the engine circuit isolated from the house circuit, so the batteries discharge independently and a flat house bank does not leave you unable to start. There is an emergency cross connect if it comes to that. Because the engine side is separated, electronics stay clear of the voltage sags and spikes that cranking throws into the system, which is where chartplotters and stereos tend to get hurt.

Four of the positions give 24 hour circuit protection for loads that stay live, bilge pumps and alarms being the usual ones. Battery switch operation is simplified compared with a conventional 1-2-Both arrangement.
