Description

The Balmar 100A Saddle Mount Alternator Kit combines a 12V high-output alternator, MC-618 external regulator, temperature sensors, and mounting hardware for engines using a 3.15-inch dual-foot Hitachi-style saddle mount. It is designed for owners who want to improve charging performance while also upgrading to Balmar’s J10 AltMount serpentine drive configuration.

The 60-100-J10 alternator is rated for 100 amps and uses isolated grounding. Its 3.15-inch saddle mount is commonly associated with Yanmar, Westerbeke, Lehman, and Perkins-Sabre engines. The J10 serpentine pulley provides a multi-groove drive arrangement suitable for higher alternator loads when matched with the corresponding engine pulley system.

The included MC-618 regulator provides external charge control, while the temperature sensors allow the system to monitor operating conditions during sustained charging. This combination is particularly useful on cruising boats where alternators spend extended periods restoring large house banks after overnight or anchor loads.
