Description

The ARCO Zeus Alternator Shield 12V is designed to protect high-output alternators from voltage spikes caused by battery disconnects and load-dump events. The risk is particularly relevant to lithium battery systems because a BMS may disconnect the battery instantly to protect the cells, leaving an alternator that is still producing substantial current without the battery bank that normally stabilizes system voltage.

A sudden disconnect can create a voltage surge severe enough to damage rectifier diodes and other alternator components. The Zeus Alternator Shield responds by clamping excess voltage and diverting it safely to ground, helping reduce stress on the alternator and lower the chance of a costly charging-system failure.

The unit installs directly at the alternator terminals, keeping the protection close to the component it is designed to protect. A built-in LED indicator provides real-time shield status so the operator can quickly verify that the protection device is healthy.

The 12V Alternator Shield is engineered for modern high-amperage charging systems and has been tested to the ISO 16750-2 load-dump standard. ARCO reports up to 75% more survivable disconnect events than the leading competing product under its test conditions.
